Restored heart – restored lungs

Patrick S.

I was lying on the floor in a room at the Piccadilly Hotel, Wollongong after my third suicide attempt when I met Jesus.

When I was seventeen, I was well into my ice addiction and I got sick. The doctors had to remove 85% of my right lung for me to live. You would think I would have stopped my drug addiction there, but I got worse. When I was 20 years old I found myself living on the streets of Sydney, broken, hopeless, bound by fear and pain.

It wasn’t long before I got sick again and the doctors told me I was going to die because my left lung collapsed and there was no option for a transplant. Amidst the hopelessness of my situation, I wanted to end my life and I couldn’t even successfully do that! I tried 3 times and failed every time. Following my third attempt, I woke up on the floor of the Piccadilly Hotel, Wollongong where one of my friends who accepted Jesus was staying. She handed me a Bible and I began to read it. This alone was a miracle because I couldn’t read! The Bible was the first book I read. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and he gave me a new life!

A few years later, I attended my check-up and the doctor was shocked as he explained to me I have two perfectly healthy lungs. It was scientifically and logically impossible, but nothing is impossible for God. He delivered me from addiction, healed me from my illness and most importantly gave me a brand new life. I was in the darkness but now I’m in the light.

I’m now at Bible college, I’ve managed a business and I share the gospel every day on radio channels. I thank Jesus for everything he has done for me and I thank you for planting the seed of eternity in that hotel.

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
